As a result of opening a Service Department of Akerboom Yacht Equipment (AYE) in Florida (West Palm Beach), we are looking for a technician.

As Yacht Equipment technician your key responsibilities are service maintenance, installation and repair of the yacht equipment. The position would include:

• Mechanical/hydraulic service of lifting and boarding equipment aboard yachts: Cranes, Passerelles, Gangways, Shell doors, Hydralift systems and more;
• Cleaning, assembling , disassembling, and replacing parts as required;
• Installing hydraulic tubing, hoses, pumps, motors, including system testing;
• Installing conduit, wiring as well as terminate connections.

Taking ownership is going to help you to be successfull in this position. The challenge, and thereby also the success, lies in planning and thinking ahead. An example might be installing the crane, as to ensure that the work on the yard can go on. But also communicating and making agreements with subcontractors, ensuring that they are ready and on time.

You have 3+ years experience as a technician in the Marine Industry. Experience with mechanical/hydraulic service of lifting and boarding equipment aboard yachts is an advantage (Cranes, Passerelles, Gangways, Shell doors, Hydralift systems and more). You are someone who takes ownership of the project and the challenge, to ensure that the work on the yard can continue at all times.

Further, you:

• Efficiently service products according to Engineering/Manufacturing documentation;
• Are able to read blueprints, diagrams, schematics (must be able to understand and service mainly hydraulic components and sometimes electrical);
• Are able to use tools and operate equipment;
• Are able to maintain a clean and respectful work area onboard customer's property;
• Have effective oral and written communication skills;
• Are currently living/working in Florida/USA or have a Visa/Green Card to be able to work there.
